Arcangelo was born in Avellino in 1956.
In 1976 he began studying at the Fine Arts Academy of Rome, where he attained a diploma in 1980. In 1981 he moved to Milan. He developed the “My land” cycle in the early 1980s. In 1984 he took part in the group show “Perspective” at Art Basel. This was followed by solo shows at the Tanit gallery in Munich and the Buchmann gallery in Basel.
In 1985 he began the sculptures titled “Holy Mountains.” In 1986 he took part in the “11th Rome Quadrennial Exhibition.” The “Altari” (Altars) saw the light towards the late 1980s, and the “Pianeti” (Planets) cycle between 1989 and 1990. In 1990, after a journey in Africa, he created works in the “Dogon” cycle, exhibited at the Kunstverein, Bonn, in 1991. In 1996, at the Di Meo gallery in Paris, he presented “Le Navi” (The Ships), sculptures in wax, and in the summer of that year, the “Misteri” (Mysteries) series. In the same year, Arcangelo began the small cycles of works titled “Verso Oriente” (Towards the East) and later, at Caffè Florian in Venice, he exhibited his terra cotta “Anfore” (Amphorae). In summer 2001, he worked on the works “Feticci” (Fetishes) and “Sanniti” (Sannites), made the “Orti” (Gardens) works in ceramics, and exhibited the works “Trofei di caccia” (Hunting trophies) at the Tanit gallery in Munich. In 2003, a book dedicated to his oeuvre was published, titled “Arcangelo.” In 2005, he published a valuable volume of etchings with 14 poems by Alda Merini.
In 2005, the works “Le mie case” (My houses) were created, and in 2006 the cycle “I Vedenti” (The Seers); he later published the second volume of the monographic book “Arcangelo-Monografia - opere dal 1983/2007” (Arcangelo-monographic volume - works from 1983 to 2007).
