CLAUDI CASANOVAS - Molecular clay - sculptures
Artists Claudi Casanovas
Officine Saffi opens its new series of exhibitions with the first Italian solo show by the great Catalan artist Claudi Casanovas.
A ceramics genius, Casanovas works with clay, searching to achieve a transfiguration of its most superficial characteristics, bringing it to the hardness of rock, as if he were working with the primaeval substance of reality. This is a poetic approach that begins from a scientific origin, and that could be defined as "molecular" as a result of his use of sophisticated experimental techniques, freezing blocks of clay in large refrigerated compartments.
During the inauguration, the Chef Ettore Bocchia, father of molecular cuisine in Italy, will present an interesting culinary performance providing a comparison between the Catalan artist's experimental techniques and the equally innovative methods used in contemporary cooking. A sophisticated combination of two worlds, that of Claudi Casanovas, artist who works with clay, and Ettore Bocchia, whose medium is food.
